Ethical Coffee
For as long as we’ve roasted coffee, we’ve sought to ensure that everyone involved in the supply of our products is treated fairly, and that’s why we only buy from suppliers who can provide full traceability for their beans and who we can be confident are fairly treating the coffee farmers and everyone else involved in the production process.
New Eden currently buys coffee sourced directly by Shiloh from suppliers. This ensures that there are less people involved in the buying process meaning more for the farmers. This process also ensures sustainability for farmers in the long term as they are paid well and they can improve and grow on their crops.
Is this better than Fair trade? In some ways yes as fair trade is set by the market and all farmers are given a base rate. Ethical sourcing means that the farmer is paid according though the crop they grow and all help is given to ensure that they produce a good crop.
